EYP proposed this concept design and master plan for Seasons Village at the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry’s annual conference in Atlanta, as a new model for what a healthcare and living facility should be to better support dementia patients and their caregivers. Informed by best practices in Japan and Denmark and supported by leading research, the design emphasizes the importance of quality of life, sense of community and belonging, safety while wandering, choice of activity, balance of sensory stimuli, routine, and privacy and dignity.
Our team engaged with numerous stakeholders including healthcare planners, researchers, caretakers, and design experts to identify the projects mission and goals. Our mission for facility is that “Seasons Village” for the Aging will be the national leader in care excellence, operational innovation, and the premier place employment.
The Town Center is a stimulating environment with options for reenacting long established routines of getting a cup of coffee and browsing aisles at a grocery store that helps stimulate residents’ mental and physical engagement as well as provide spaces for family activities. The Village Square services residents’ daily needs including a clinic where they can attend physical therapy, multi-purpose room for larger group activities, a chapel, café, coffee shop, and other amenities. Onsite medical facilities are available for residents if they need immediate and advanced level care.
