Renewal of the Michigan State Capitol: Delivery, Technology, Sustainability

June 10 | 2:30-3:30 pm

The Michigan State Capitol, a National Historic Landmark opened in 1879, is undergoing a comprehensive upgrade of building systems, 25 years after award winning restoration work was completed in the early 1990s. This presentation will evaluate how “preservation” and functional requirements have changed in the current project. The Owner and Architect will discuss the benefits of Design-Build delivery, review the technological tools embraced to improve conservation and compliance, and highlight the sustainability initiatives of the project.
