Senior Experiential Graphic Designer
Why do I do what I do? I enjoy solving puzzles —trying to figure out how to make something simple that may appear to be complex. As the late Douglas Horton, dean of Harvard Divinity School, once said, “The art of simplicity is a puzzle of complexity.”
Understanding how people move through a space, how they interact with a space, and how that space makes them feel is not only what I study, it’s what I love.
Over the past 35 years, I’ve worked with colleagues and clients to find creative solutions to a number of such challenges. One of my favorite projects was developing experiential graphics for Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta. How did we design a wayfinding system that guides a fan from the entry to 1 of 71,000 seats? Understanding people, knowing the space, asking the right questions, and active listening helped determine the best strategies.
And interactions with many great collaborators who had varied perspectives have enriched my understanding of intuitive wayfinding.
But enough about me. Let’s talk about the puzzles and possibilities of your next project.
