“Most architects probably do not think of themselves as health professionals, but they should, because they are.” Dr. Richard Jackson’s statement sparked my passion for architecture that heals, which in turn, led me to the world of Evidence-Based Design.
Joining EYP through their Tradewell Fellowship program opened the doors to opportunities for mentorship, resources, and experiences for my professional development. As part of my fellowship year, I decided to study Mental and Behavioral Health. The literature I found by Mardelle M. Shepley and Roger S. Ulrich put me on a path of awareness and desire to create the best environment for healing a complex illness that is often wrapped in many layers of unknowns.
So, What’s Possible? As a Medical Planning Specialist at EYP, I am a part of a team invested in studying, researching, and creating an environment that readies the mind for healing. While partnering with you, I’m continuously pursuing new evidence-based approaches that help answer the question: how can design act as an aid for prevention and cure?
