Senior Structural Engineer

Mark has extensive experience in structural engineering design, with particular expertise in complex adaptive use projects. His award-winning projects include many on the National Register of Historic Places. A Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and a member of the Structural Engineering Institute of ASCE, he shares his expertise through articles and presentations and is an Adjunct Professor of Civil Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Mountaintop Marvel

Modern Steel Construction profiles EYP's Senior Structural Engineer Mark Kanonik's examination of Lehigh University's research facility at it's Mountaintop Campus.

The article, “Bridge to the Past,” authored by EYP Senior Structural Engineer and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) adjunct faculty member Mark Kanonik, recounts how a group of RPI structural engineering master’s degree students completed an extensive and unique analysis of the historic Shushan Covered Bridge in Shushan, NY. In accordance with the Historic American Engineering Record, the students documented the structure, while partaking in a radical departure from the traditional classroom engineering educational experience.
