For me, architecture is about the user experience: how can I shape spaces that create exciting built environments? Faculty, researchers, and students each require a building that performs slightly differently yet overlaps around a central academic function. I enjoy the process of understanding those needs — What is the dream for this space? What will make people spend time in this building? — and developing floor plans that weave together the flow of teaching, research, and interaction.
In 20 years of exploring academic and research space solutions, I have found that I thrive by sharing my ideas and learning from others, be it colleagues, clients, or consultants. This interest in learning and exploration helps me create stimulating, inventive, and original environments that foster a positive user experience.
