Dan Lazarz PE, LEED AP BD+C
Senior Fire Protection Engineer
Protecting people from fire and implementing safety and risk management strategies is my passion. In a world where buildings, building systems, and program requirements are becoming more complex, I’m focused on helping clients identify the fire and life safety strategies necessary to ensure people’s safety while balancing property protection and risk mitigation goals.
Today’s demanding building programs, sophisticated infrastructure systems, and modern materials can create environments where fires burn faster and more intensely. I enjoy working with facility managers, research scientists, environmental health and safety specialists, and client program managers to identify and analyze optimal fire and life safety systems and code compliance solutions for buildings.
Combining a degree in Fire Protection Engineering and 35 years of continuous Fire and Emergency Services experience in municipal and industrial settings, I have managed and solved unique and diverse fire and life safety challenges. Having served on a code development committee, worked as a fire and chemical safety program manager, and designed fire suppression, fire detection, and alarm systems, I’ve learned the importance of a total concept approach and understand the balance needed to achieve great designs and outcomes. Day-to-day, it’s rewarding to work alongside architects & engineers, integrating fire safety solutions in design and mitigating risk to keep people safe.
